paying attention

Sometimes you don't think your kids are paying attention, and then they do something that shows they have picked up at least a little of what you were trying to teach. Our little parent reward lately was with Jared. On Monday nights, we usually have family night (family home evening) - with our boys so little, we keep it very simple. We sing a song, say a prayer, sing another song, have a short lesson or little activity, sing another song, pray, and have "treats" (Mondays and Fridays are dessert nights).

Anyway, usually Jared is doing his own thing and Nathan mostly is the one listening. Recently, Jared went to the piano and pretended like he was playing. Then he stopped, turned around, folded his arms, and said, "Pray." So we helped him pray. Then he turned around and started "playing" a song. He wanted us to sing- so we sang. Then he turned around and said, "Talk." We figured out that he wanted us to do the lesson. So Alex made something up and then he wanted to do another song.

So maybe he is paying attention...

That's so fun! I absolutely love it when the little ones give us feedback to know that they're pickin' up on something.

Awww, how sweet! Yes, it's wonderful to see them learning. I like the idea of limiting treats - we have our Sunday Sundaes once a week and whenever Anna asks for a treat - I say, wait for sunday! :o)

Funny how that works huh? always when you least expect it, you get the pleasant rewards for your efforts...keep up the good work mom and dad, it'll only pay off in the end :)

That's so neat!! Good for you, Annie! I compeletly understand on the "are they really listening??", but that shows that they are...at least sometimes. ;)

Yes, I think it might be made by the same people. Either way, I really like it. I think it WOULD be a good birthday present. It's cool cuz you don't have to play with a group. You can play with as little as two people.
