who wants to get down here?

I said I'd never get down in the crawl space underneath the house...well I did today...with the 3 boys. Ugh! The tornado siren went off and I just couldn't risk not going underneath the house. So I ripped out everything out of the closet floor, pulled up the board (which is a little heavy- didn't notice that when I was pulling it up; must have had some adrenaline), and got us all in there. The boys thought I was crazy... you want us to go in there?! Yep. We were fine though - no tornado touched down here. How are my Edmond friends? You got the worst of it.

After the first round, we had about a 20 minute lull before the 2nd round of storms, so we headed to Alex's office. Nothing else but thunderstorms, but I did realize from this experience today that we're not ready for an emergency. I wish I'd had a bag of snacks and such ready to take out the door. Instead I was running around the house, grabbing whatever I thought we could use for the boys, like a bag of pretzels, apples, fruit snacks, and diapers. Luckily, the diaper bag was just about ready. The one good thing was that I knew the storm was coming and picked up Nathan from school early. Otherwise, we might have been trying to go out and pick him up when the storm hit. A little tender mercy that I didn't have to take Jared and Owen out in the storm...

What a good mom you are Annie!

we were in our closet for about 20 mins but I couldnt help thinking I wish I felt safer & a bag of snacks or diapers ready to grab would be helpful!

We have some major work to do with none existing emergency kits!

See my comments...ffandtm. Glad you are all safe. I heard a brief headline on TV last night about tornados in OK but then forgot to watch the news for details.

Oh the things a mother will do to keep her children safe...one little detail Annie forgot to mention is, that the mice think the crawl space under the house is a good place to hide also :)

Wow- that is pretty brave that you went in the crawlspace. Glad you are all ok! Pretty crazy storm!

Glad you're ok. That had to have been scary. We escaped the tornadoes but got a lot of wind and sever thunderstorms. Yea for picking up nathan early. It's funny how the Church has been telling us all along to be prepared and it's one of those nagging things that we'll get around too. You inspired me to get my emergency kits together.

After enduring the never ending ice storm in NC a few years ago, I'm pretty good about keeping an emergency kit (although we only have the cat to worry about)-keeping extra doses of my meds safe is really important as well.

That said, crawl spaces are just about as scary as the storms! You are one brave momma! One of the things we were actually looking for in a home this time around was a better "storm" room for this very reason.

We weren't in OK, but lost some shingles and just one neighborhood over has been on the national news today because roofs blew off. Hope you guys didn't get any wind damage!

A few fruit snacks go a long way!

I can't believe you actually crawled under your house! That's awesome - luckily it's not the "buggy" time of year.

Tiffany said on FB that they were all OK, #1 touched down pretty close to her house but it wasn't too powerful yet.

Let's hear it for tornado season! It keeps life exciting and the people humble!

Glad yall were safe! Here in Moore we didnt get much but storms this time. After going through the May 3,1999 tornado, you'd think that i'd be more prepared when bad storms are on the way, but with 2 kids, and one on the way..im the most unprepared person ever!!! Next time we have to take cover, ill remember snacks and such for the kids.
