Mother's Day faucet

Alex knows that he doesn't need to get gifts for me.  The flowers were from our home teacher.  Alex asked if I wanted to go out to eat on Saturday evening.  I told him I would rather put that money towards a new faucet!  So we went to Home Depot, picked out a faucet, and Alex installed it when we got home.  I like it!

Alex made breakfast for me and some of dinner.  We ended up combining our dinner with another family in our church, so we had a nice variety.  Best salmon I've ever had!  We also had roast, rolls, green beans, and roasted veggies.  We had cookies and apple and cherry pie for dessert.

It was cute to see the homemade gifts and cards from the kids.  Weston made a piggy card, of course.  Owen's hand picture said, "These hands can hold stuff."  Ha ha.

I love being a mom to these kids!

Another favorite school day... watermelon!  Weston loves watermelon.
                                                                                                                   ...and so does Savannah.

Owen was home from school - "sick".  He seemed to be feeling well for our activities.  He said he had more fun at home than at school.  Of course!  We do fun stuff around here.

We tried a treasure hunt, but Weston couldn't really figure out the pictures.  Luckily, Owen came home from school just in time to help.  He found Smarties in the "treasure chest" - basically about the only candy he will eat.

Y... yawn... I was getting pretty lazy by the end of the alphabet.  We did one yarn craft and then went outside to play.  Y is for yard, right?

We finished off with zebra cakes and zebra craft.  Weston wasn't excited about the craft, but I promised him a zebra cake if he did the craft.  Too bad he took one bite of the zebra cake and said, "I don't like this."  At least we finished the project first!  Ha ha.

Good thing he likes books more than sweets - he enjoyed reading about baby animals at the zoo.

And of course we had to go to the zoo!  We loved seeing the 6 week old giraffe.  Savannah was trying to nurture and soothe the sleeping gorilla through the glass.

Z is for zonked!  ZZZZZ......

From wolf to bears...

Jared completed his requirements for Wolf in cub scouts.  After he turns 9, he'll move on to bears.  Good work Jared (and leaders)!

Jared participating in a skit;

camping and such

We took one quick camping trip in April, along with another family in our church.  I still question whether it's worth it to drive less than 30 minutes away to sleep in a tent and deal with all the work involved with camping.  But we did get out and have fun.  The weather was perfect, although I was a bit cold during the night.  Savannah came and squeezed in my sleeping bag in the middle of the night, which wasn't very comfortable.

Good thing she's cute.

Some random silliness...
