more birthday fun

We had a little airplane-themed birthday party for Jared. I put paper down in the shape of a space-ship/airplane for the kids to color on and to sit on. They had tray lunches- the chips and juice boxes were a hit. Jared liked the very unprofessional-looking airplane cake (I needed more time and more frosting). He got so close to the candles when he was trying to blow it out that he nearly singed his nose. But he blew the candles out by himself.

Here's some more pictures from his actual birthday, the 18th. We didn't have cake- just ice cream, so we put the candles in the ice cream. Jared was really excited about his new airplanes.

Two!

My baby is 2 today, and not a baby anymore! It's hard to believe that it's been 2 years already. Jared figured out how to put up 2 fingers and he likes 2 of whatever he's eating- 2 strawberries, 2 crackers, 2 cookies... 2 is just right. Happy 2nd Birthday Jared- We love you!

linkers

Just for those who have a link to my blog, I have a small favor to ask. Could you not use our last name on the link? I'm still trying to keep a low profile since my blog is essentially open to the world. I'm trying not to pinpoint our location either - that one's a little more difficult. And since my boys are so darn cute, I wouldn't want anyone finding us and snatching them up.... :)

Thanks.

camping

We went camping last night. Alex really wanted to take the boys while the weather is nice. I didn't have such a great time. I got to sleep with the boys in one tent, while Alex slept in his little backpacking tent. We don't all fit in one, so the boys and I tented together. They weren't the best tent buddies. I think I'll let Alex take JUST the boys next time he wants to go camping... or maybe we'll camp out in our backyard and I'll sneak inside.

Anyway, the boys had a great time, so we accomplished that task.

Viewer discretion advised

Well, I finally did it. I chopped off my hair. I took the Meg Ryan picture in there, but the stylist tweeked it a little to suit my thin fine hair. I'm not really excited about it, but it looks better than it did before...

The amazing part about getting my haircut was that the boys came with me and sat the entire time I was getting my hair done. I was supposed to drop them off at Alex's work, but when we went by there, he wasn't there. So I didn't have much choice. I didn't have time to do anything else with them. They were great though. They sat and watched me for about 45 minutes or however long it took.

the great outdoors

The weather has been beautiful this week- just perfect for exploring, for caterpillars and roses! The boys were fascinated with the caterpillar. I was surprised when Nathan let it crawl on his arm.

more dirt...

Okay, that didn't take long. Just wanted to see if you actually read my posts...
or at least the comments. ;)
I was going to be creative, but after Michelle's post not too long ago, I just couldn't outdo that... So then I thought about just putting "I'm pregnant." I really didn't want to make a big deal out of it- I know some of you would love to have morning sickness right now. Anyway, so yep - the 3rd's in the oven, just a little bitty "lentil". I just barely found out about a week ago. This was our absolute last chance for another "tax break" this year... :)

My due date is December 25th! We won't be going anywhere for Christmas this year. Well, hopefully we make it to that point. We're crossing our fingers and praying that the morning sickness doesn't end quite yet. Strange, but at least when I'm sick, I know everything is still working. And actually, it won't quite be a Christmas baby, since I have to schedule a C-section 1-2 weeks before the due date. So we're actually looking at the 12th or 19th (my doctor's surgery days).

Any of you out there with girls, send your magic this way... we'll take a boy, but we're hoping for a girl!

Boulder

We took a short trip to Boulder, CO this weekend. Alex had a conference, so the boys and I tagged along. We drove on Thursday- the trip was going so well until Jared puked all over himself and his carseat. And it had just started snowing. We had a little tv hooked up right in front of Nathan, so he watched videos the whole way (13 hours of video? - oh well.) We stayed in the Millenium Hotel, a pretty fancy place. You could drink the bottled water they had in the rooms for you, if you wanted to pay $6. Accomodations were paid for- this wasn't our choice...

Alex had meetings all day on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday morning. So the boys and I were mostly on our own. I took the boys to a children's museum on Friday for a few hours. We got to see my aunt and uncle on Saturday evening. They live right by the Denver Temple, about an hour from Boulder. They cooked salmon on the grill for us. Wish I could have enjoyed it more - I have bad morning sickness right now. We enjoyed seeing them. Quin hadn't met Alex or the boys yet. The boys went wild after they got warmed up- Nathan was really getting into the baseball game on TV. "The hitter hit the ball." "Strike 8!" I took the boys to church Sunday morning- to the Flat Iron ward (?). Everyone was really nice. Right after church, we picked Alex up and headed home. It only took us about 11 hours to get home. Did I mention that we ate at McDonald's about 5 times in the past few days? I can't eat another hamburger for a while...
