activity day luncheon

We planned a mother and daughter luncheon for the activity day girls and their moms (the day before Mother's Day).  We tried to keep the cost down and as simple as possible.  The girls made invitations and the table decorations.  They made some paper origami flowers, which I thought were pretty easy.  Once you do the folding a couple of times, you don't have to look at the instructions anymore.  The girls had a hard time gluing the petals together.  (We used hot glue so we didn't have to wait for the glue to dry.  We used green pipe cleaner for stems, just simply threaded through the space between the petals.)

They also made the dessert - cheesecake.  The luncheon went well.  The only thing that we were hoping for was sunlight!  It was a cloudy day.  But we had no control over that.  After lunch, we did a game - a version of the newlywed game.  We had the girls answer questions about their moms and the moms answer questions about their daughters.  Then they answered the questions aloud about themselves and they saw if their answers matched.  It was so fun!  Everyone loved it.  I think they learned a lot about each other.  It was fun to see the girls snuggled up with their moms during the game.  The luncheon seemed to be a success - low cost, service for the girls, and fun bonding time for moms and daughters!
