4th of July

Alison and Micah made it in time for the 4th of July.  They were originally going to get here a couple days before and then had car trouble and almost didn't make it.  Their neighbor let them borrow their vehicle for the trip!  They got in late Sunday night, about 30 minutes after Alex returned from his business trip.

We had a nice brunch in the morning - cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon, and fresh peaches right off our tree. In the afternoon, we headed downtown to wander around and have ice cream.  We did dinner back at home - grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, corn on the cob, salad, fruit, and fizzy raspberry drinks.  After watching the fireworks, we had pie for dessert.

The next day was a beach day!  We played some volleyball, had lunch there, and hung out.  The water was mostly too cold for me, but the kids were in and out of it all afternoon.  We spent most of the day there, until the kids were all worn out.  Eden was done at about 1:00, but we didn't head home until about 4:00pm... she got a short nap in there at the beach.  We got all cleaned up, and then the kids stayed home with pizza and a movie, while Alex, Micah, Alison, and I went out for a date night.  We had fish 'n chips and wandered around the harbor.  We later had s'mores on our fire pit at home.  We had another great day, except some of the kids got some really bad sunburns - we didn't reapply the suncreen... they were hurting the rest of the week.

On Wednesday morning, the kids got a little bit of play time while Micah and Alison were packing up.  They headed out in the afternoon.  It was great to see them, and we're glad they made the drive to see us.  We know it wasn't easy!  It was really fun for the kids to see Eden again - they met her just a month or so after she was born, so she had changed quite a bit since then!  She was so cute.  Owen latched onto her pretty quickly.  She gave us a nice wave and big smile on the way out.

This is Savannah's back - her shoulders blistered up.  Ouch!
