Jared received his Arrow of Light in April - he got his award along with 3 others. Jared recruited two of those to cub scouts, his buddies Jay and Evan. It was a fun couple of years for Jared, getting to participate with two good friends. We enjoyed watching them receive their awards together. They had some great leaders as well - we have been really happy with the cub scout experience our boys have had.
I helped Jared write some verses to a song the Webelos sang at pack meeting - a little variation to "There was an Old Woman who Swallowed a Fly." The boys each played a homemade instrument to go along with each of the animals. The ending of the song is the best!

Who let out a howl as she swallowed that wolf!
She swallowed the wolf to catch the snake.

She didn’t care, she swallowed that bear!

But along came a Webelo who saw her there,
She was looking quite blue from swallowing that bear!
He pulled out the bear who swallowed the wolf,
Who swallowed the snake, who swallowed the frog,
Who swallowed the spider
That wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her.
She had swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed that fly,
But today she won't die!
