Czech Republic

We were only in the UK for a couple of days before we headed out for a vacation.  We had a little time before school and Alex's work started.  We flew from Edinburgh to Prague, Czech Republic and rented a car there for our travels. We found a great deal on a round trip flight from Edinburgh to Prague - only about $700 for our family.  We discovered that we could find some cheap flights on Easy Jet and Ryanair, so most of our flights were through them.  We had to pack light though since we could only take a carry-on without paying for bags.  We got used to packing light for our travels - the kids mostly just had a backpack for their stuff.

We spent a couple of days in Prague.  Our first day we explored Hruba Skala, just over an hour northeast of Prague.  We took a tour of the castle and then hiked to a viewpoint of it.  In the third picture, you can just barely see Trosky Castle in the background.

Hiking to a viewpoint of Hruba Skala

After our hike, we were hungry and stopped for some food.  The kids were excited to see a dog that looked very similar to Kai.

Trosky Castle - with two towers.  On the lower peak is a two-story structure called "Baba" - we had to stop and take a picture there because that's what we call Grandma (my mom).  The second picture is the higher four-sided tower called "Panna".  They were doing a presentation with birds when we got there.  Pretty cool.

We spent the next morning driving into Germany to go to the Freiberg Temple.  I'll show some pictures of that in my next post.  That evening, we went into Prague - such a cool city.

We stayed in a Airbnb and rode a tram into the city (that's the 2nd picture below).

We enjoyed a great view from the top of one of the towers.  All of the lights at night were pretty.

It was nice to be able to travel so much last year, but it was hard traveling with the kids.  It was pretty painful at times.  Here is a peek at what it was like to travel with the whole family...
