Cornwall

After school got out for the year and after church on Sunday, we took one last whirlwind trip to Cornwall, the southern tip of England.  It was a long drive down there, about 8 hours.  We spent Monday and Tuesday exploring several areas of Cornwall:  St. Ives, Land's End, Porthcurno, St. Michael's Mount, Lizard Mouth, and Kynance Cove.  We didn't actually have time to visit St. Michael's Mount by the time we got there in the evening.  We should have done our drive the other way around to be able to see it when it was opened.  We basically started near St Ives, to Land's End, and around to Lizard Point and back to St Ives.

We spent some time at the beach at St Ives and a little bit near Porthcurno.

Alex and I got up and did a 4 mile trail run on Tuesday morning (before we did our drive to see sights around Cornwall).  One cool thing about that jog was watching someone make a design in the sand using a rake.

We stopped at Land's End to play and see the land's end 😊

Hikes at Lizard Point and Kynance Cove were our last stops on Tuesday before we headed back to our hotel.

On Wednesday morning, we headed back to Durham.  On the way, we stopped at Tintagel Castle and St Nectan's Glen (where we saw a cool waterfall called Merlin's Well).  Such a pretty area and a pretty day for hiking around!

Apparently, people leave coins in this tree and a couple other places - must be for good luck.

Once again, we got in late from our trip, because it was nearly a 7 hour drive from St Nectan's Glen back to Durham.  We didn't leave until about 4:00pm from there - we used every bit of time we had in England to see as much as we could.
