Denmark

When we left Durham, we took a train to London.  We had a 7:20am flight the next morning to Billund, Denmark.  When we got on the plane, Savannah pulled out all of her stuffed animals.  Despite us traveling light, Savannah managed to tote along 5 bears!  We intended to let her hang on to 3 bears, but shortly before we left, she ended up with 2 more.  Our neighbor Jess gave her one, and she charmed the guys who picked up our sofa and recliner out of a bear on the back of the donation truck.  Savannah saw it as they were loading the furniture and pointed it out.  By the time the furniture store guys left, she was holding the bear.

The boys had to wear their newly acquired knight helmets on the train and through the airport for our travels home.  We laughed about the looks they probably got as we went through security.  How many people have to take off their knight helmet?

I think this video was from another train ride, but it applies here as well.  The boys enjoyed doing the floss wherever they went.

When we got to Billund on Tuesday, we checked into our hotel and then headed to the Lego House.  This was the long awaited trip to the Lego Capital of the World!  Billund was top of the list for places to see for our Lego lovers.  Lego House did not disappoint.  The kids could have stayed there for hours.  I sent Alex with the boys through the part that you had to pay to see.  Savannah and I hung out downstairs and outside.  There were plenty of play areas that were free, and I wasn't sure if Savannah would be very excited about the other part of the Lego House.

There were lots of different play areas on the roof of the building and around the outside.

The boys were in heaven with all of the Lego exhibits and interactive areas to build with the Legos!

On Wednesday, we spent the day at Legoland.  The kids loved it!  (I actually had a bad cold, but there wasn't any way I was going to sit it out.  Getting around with 5 kids really required 2 adults anyway, and I wasn't going to ruin it for everyone.)  It wouldn't be an amusement park without hot long lines, but we still had a good day.

The older boys loved this river splash ride.  You can't see him very well, but Weston is hiding behind his water gun.  He couldn't figure out how to work it, and so instead of him being able to shoot the on-lookers, he just got soaked.  He was in tears after the ride, but a blue slushie cheered him up.  It was a pretty hot day, so being wet and drinking a slush was actually a good thing.  Weston just didn't like being defenseless on the ride!

The raft ride was fun - I ended up being in the seat that got soaked on my ride.  Unfortunately, we all stood in line and then they said Savannah was too short to ride, so we had to do 2 separate rides.  She was upset she couldn't go on that ride, but meeting a princess cheered her up.  There were plenty of other rides that she enjoyed.  One of her favorites, which surprised us, was the haunted house.  We thought she would be too scared, but she did that one twice.

On Thursday, we took a train from Billund to Copenhagen.  Once there, we took a bus to our motel, where we dropped off the kids.  Alex and I headed to the Copenhagen temple (our 45th temple).  After that, we picked up a few groceries, headed back to the motel, and took the kids out in the city for dinner.  We spent the evening wandering around Copenhagen.  It reminded me of Amsterdam, but without the rank smell of drugs and less crowded.  So we had a pretty pleasant walk around the city.

Our motel had no A/C, so it was really hot!  I had a terrible night between the heat and coughing fits, but it was a short night anyway.  We had another early flight in the morning.
